These Terms and Conditions govern your use of SpeechMatters' speech and language therapy services. By booking an appointment with us, you agree to the terms set out below. Please read them carefully.

1. Our Services
SpeechMatters provides professional speech and language therapy assessment and treatment for children, teenagers, and adults. Services are delivered in person at our clinic in Rathgar, Dublin, and online via video call.
All therapists at SpeechMatters are registered with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council), the statutory regulator for health and social care professionals in Ireland.
2. Booking Appointments
Appointments can be booked by contacting us by phone, email, or through the referral form on our website. An appointment is confirmed once you receive written or verbal confirmation from us.
For appointments involving a child, a parent or guardian must provide consent before assessment or therapy can commence. Where a child is under 18, a parent or guardian must be available and reachable for the duration of the session.
3. Cancellation and Missed Appointments
We kindly ask for at least 72 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. This allows us the opportunity to offer the slot to another client who may be waiting.
- Cancellations with 72 or more hours' notice: No charge will be applied. We will do our best to offer an alternative appointment.
- Cancellations with less than 72 hours' notice: A fee of up to 50% of the appointment cost may be charged, as we are often unable to fill the time at short notice.
- Missed appointments (no show): The full session fee will be charged.
We reserve the right to waive the cancellation fee at our discretion in exceptional circumstances, such as sudden illness or a family emergency.
SpeechMatters reserves the right to cancel or reschedule appointments where necessary. We will provide as much notice as possible in such circumstances and will not charge a fee for cancellations made by us.
4. Late Arrivals
If you arrive late for an appointment, we will endeavour to provide as much of the session as possible within the remaining time. The full session fee will apply. We may not be able to extend the session beyond its scheduled end time if another client is due to follow.
5. Fees and Payment
Our current session fees are available on request. Fees are payable at the time of each session unless otherwise agreed in advance.
A receipt will be issued following each payment. It is your responsibility to retain receipts for any insurance or tax purposes.
SpeechMatters reserves the right to review and update its fees from time to time. We will provide reasonable notice of any fee changes.
6. Health Insurance
SpeechMatters operates on a self-pay basis. Fees are paid directly to us and a receipt is issued.
Many private health insurance providers in Ireland offer cover or partial cover for speech and language therapy. Whether you are eligible to claim depends on your individual policy. We recommend contacting your insurer directly to confirm your level of cover before commencing therapy.
All therapists at SpeechMatters are registered with CORU. Some insurers require CORU registration as a condition of reimbursement, and we are happy to confirm our registration status in writing if required.
7. Online Sessions
Where sessions are delivered online, you are responsible for ensuring you have access to a suitable device, a stable internet connection, and a private, quiet space for the duration of the session. Online sessions are subject to the same booking, cancellation, and payment terms as in-person sessions.
If technical difficulties arise on our side, we will reschedule or extend the session at no additional charge. If technical difficulties arise on your side that prevent the session from taking place, the standard cancellation policy will apply.
8. Clinical Disclaimer
Speech and language therapy is a professional healthcare service. While we are committed to delivering the highest standard of care, therapy outcomes vary between individuals and cannot be guaranteed. Progress depends on many factors including the nature and severity of the presenting difficulty, the frequency of therapy, and the extent of practice between sessions.
Our therapy services do not constitute medical diagnosis or medical treatment. If you have concerns about a medical condition, please consult a GP or appropriate medical professional.
9. Confidentiality
All information shared with us in the course of therapy is treated as confidential. Please refer to our Privacy Notice for full details of how we collect, use, and store your personal data.
10. Materials and Resources
Any resources, worksheets, or materials provided to you by SpeechMatters are for your personal use in support of therapy only. They may not be reproduced, distributed, or used for commercial purposes without our written consent.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Irish law, SpeechMatters' liability in connection with the provision of services is limited to the fee paid for the session or sessions in question. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland. Any disputes arising in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The version date at the top of this page indicates when they were last revised. Continued use of our services following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
